Frequently asked questions!
So what exactly IS PhysioMorph Fitness Arts?
In simple terms, PhysioMorph Fitness Arts is a multi-disciplinary creative project that combines elements from psychology, physiology, and sociology and incorporates them into art & performance classes, group social events, and personal wellness sessions which aim to help participants in self-discovery, connection to others, and overall health. We like to dabble in the cohesive experience of art and science.
Okay, so how do you incorporate all of those scientific disciplines into one project?
We use psychology, physiology, and sociology in a way which uses general information from the disciplines to help aid in the enjoyment and personal growth in our facilitated events, as well as address and learn about how specific concepts from those disciplines might influence our experiences during the events. Think of it like this:
If someone asked you to draw a rectangle on a piece of paper, the likelihood of you being able to accomplish that task is very likely. Generally speaking, most of the population knows what a rectangle looks like and they’re able to recreate one. But, if someone asked you to draw a Droste effect using rectangles, you might be a little puzzled by the request and you would need a little more explanation. The same applies for the way we use the disciplines. Depending on the experience, we will also include background information that can be easily accessed from credible sources for those who want to learn more about a specific topic.
What is the difference between a class, creative events, group social, and fitness session?
CLASSES, LESSONS, & WORKSHOPS: These are experiences that teach a specific skill to a couple people or an entire group! Classes can be medium/larger in size and are usually about an hour. Workshops can be the same size but usually longer in duration, and lessons are for 1 - 2 people only.
GROUP PLAY SOCIALS: Group Socials are smaller experiences which normally consist of 4 - 8 people doing 4 different activity stations in a rotation with each other, as well as group activities of various durations at the social. These experiences are designed to have a group of participants more likely to interact with each other and leave feeling acquainted with everyone at the social.
PHYSIOMORPHIC SESSIONS: These experiences are 1-on-1 sessions with MiiMii which help address individual needs in fitness, creativity, and mental-emotional challenges participants would like assistance with. Types of sessions usually consist of flexibility & strength training, relaxation experiences, and art & play talks.
CREATIVE EVENTS: Events are usually more performative and less structured in comparison to other services we offer. An example of an event with us would likely be something like going to see a variety show the circus is performing in, or going on a bakery crawl dressed up like our favorite sweets! Be sure to check out the “events” page to see what’s coming up soon!
What is your location?
Multiple places! We currently don’t have a dedicated home space to exist in currently, so be sure to look closely at the experience you’re attending to make sure you are going to the correct place! In future years, we hope to have a space which suits our needs, but for now, this is the way! Also, be mindful to dress appropriately for weather when attending outdoor sessions. One of the things we see as valuable to the process is being in uncomfortable environments at times, but still being able to have fun!
Are your experiences for adults and children?
Yes! We offer a variety of experiences for adults and children. Please be sure to look at the details of the event you’re attending to see what age groups are suited for the experience.
MiiMii, did you stay up all night trying to figure out how to explain all of these things?
Why yes… yes I did.
